Emerson College Department of Journalism

Emerson College is best known for producing strong contributors to the fields of communication, the arts, and journalism. The school is located in the center of Boston, Massachusetts—known as the “birthplace of American journalism.” The college’s ideal location gives you the chance to explore one of the most historic cities in the country, while at the same time gaining practical experience reporting on some of the events that happen there. Emerson offers both undergraduate and graduate programs that will help you learn the art of researching, writing, and producing news—whether through verbal, print, or web reporting. They will also provide you with a state-of-the-art newsroom in which to practice and hone your reporting skills. The room is designed to simulate a real newsroom and allow you to experience the various processes that go into creating a first-rate news presentation. The graduate program lasts for thirteen months and will help to launch you into your career by teaching you the essentials for working on a team, developing multimedia reporting skills, and securing an internship in your chosen field.
